Wow.

I actually got a job.

I’m happy.

Well, I’m happy, but I also can’t help feeling a little disappointed.

It turns out I could have started working much sooner if I’d just been this proactive…

I set the bar too high for myself, which made me lose confidence, and I had been thinking about getting a job as something much more daunting than it really was.

But once I decided to just put myself out there, whether things worked out or not, I felt like I could do anything.

Whether it was good timing or just good luck, I ended up getting a job.

I keep thinking, “I should’ve done this sooner.”

This month flew by.

At the beginning of the month, I was constantly going to interviews while working on my personal project.

After I got the job, I spent my weekdays getting used to life at the company and worked at Starbucks on the weekends.

I had been such a lazy bum that I almost couldn’t believe how busy I’d become.

It’s not until the last Saturday of the month, while writing this reflection, that I’m finally getting to enjoy a day off after a long time.

(It feels weird having my weekends free now — and I can’t get the employee discount anymore 😭)

The weather has gotten a little warmer, and with the sunlight feeling warmer too, I went to an exhibition.

I don’t know much about art at all, but I’m trying to learn a little about the artists and their work as I go.

Most artists have an iconic style of their own, so after looking at a few of their works, you can usually start to get a sense of how to approach them.

Some artists invite you to interpret their intentions and compositions or pay attention to technical details like their brushwork, while others simply make you feel the beauty of the work itself.

I tend to like dreamy and lyrical works, but the pieces by Jean-Michel Basquiat that I went to see today were almost the complete opposite.

They were jagged, strange, bold, sharp, and full of wild, free-flowing colors.

What especially caught my attention was how densely the paintings were filled with words, and how some of the sentences he had written in his composition notebooks were displayed in frames around the exhibition.

I was also surprised to see that he owned a copy of the Hunminjeongeum Haerye.

A New Yorker from the ’60s…

I had a great time looking at things I’d never even thought about before.

Tomorrow is February, which means it’s time to welcome the sun.

Yongyangbongjeo Storage Park.

The last time I took a bus to Eungbongsan to watch the sunrise, I noticed some people getting off around here, so I looked the place up as soon as I got home.

It’s near Nodeulseom, so I figured it might have a good view of the sunrise. I’m going to check it out.

I hope the sun rises bright and high.

This month, I watched the sun rise with determination to work hard and live my life to the fullest, and somehow, I ended up starting a new job.

I hope that next month, too, I’ll get to see a brilliant sun and have something good come my way.
